“The cloud market in Spain
Opportunities and risks for startups and innovative companies”
Cloud technology has revolutionized the market, enabling and democratizing access to cutting-edge technology for citizens and companies.
Specifically, thanks to the cloud, Spanish startups now have the opportunity to access advanced technologies (data analysis, internet of things, computing, etc.) in an agile and affordable way, enabling them to operate and scale.
For this reason, this report (carried out by professor and economist José Moisés Martín) aims to analyze indepth the cloud ecosystem in our country, observe how it is affecting Spanish start-ups as a whole, and thus identify the opportunities and risks we face as innovative companies.

According to the results of the report, the improvement in the adoption of cloud services in Spain up to the average of the European environment could mean...
Creation of up to 324,000 new jobs in Spain by 2030
Additional GDP growth in Spain of up to 1.30% (€23,628 M) by 2030
For a fair competition model
To make progress in this direction, it is necessary to undertake and promote a model of fair competition in the cloud market in Spain. This would generate an ecosystem with more and better opportunities, significantly increase the emergence of cloud provider start-ups and, in general, create an even more favorable environment for innovative entrepreneurship.
To this end, the report proposes different lines of action that are considered essential to foster the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the cloud market in Spain:
1
Promotion of cloud technology as an enabler and democratiser of access to innovative technologies that are key to boosting the digitization of the Spanish economy.
2
Elaboration of a national cloud strategy that promotes a robust and competitive cloud system capable of boosting the innovative entrepreneurship ecosystem in Spain.
3
To further intensify the digitization of public administrations, committing to cloud technology and involving the entrepreneurial ecosystem..
4
Develop a public procurement strategy for cloud services that updates the systems for contracting cloud services and avoids practices that prevent competition on a level playing field.
